Add Fruits and Vegetables to your family's diet


**Obese children and adolescents are more likely to become obese adults **This places these children at risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and many kinds of cancer


The USDA says: 2-17-year-olds ate far less than the recommended levels of dark-green vegetables and beans


Improvement seen in total fruit and whole fruit intake since 2003


Keep a washed bowl of fruit on the table

Choose fruits or vegetables for two snacks per day

Have only desserts that have fruit in them

Set a good example by eating fruit + vegetables yourself


Eat a large salad at dinner every night

Make a stir fry or soup with as many vegetables as possible

To save $, buy fruit or vegetables that have been reduced use them in pies, soups or stir fry's

Buy fresh fruits and vegetables when on sale to get the best price

Put fruit, plain yogurt and milk or soy milk in the blender to make a smoothie
