Where Have You Been?
A visual display of where reading takes students
Place a large map on a bulletin board and ask students to place a pin where they’ve “been” by book. The pins can be color-coded by student or grade. Project can be classroom- or school-wide. Challenge students to “visit” a certain number of places by the end of the school year.
Why It Works
Shows students they can “travel” by book Allows students to work together to reach a goal (pins on each continent, certain number of places by end of the year) Includes children of all reading levels Supports curricular nonfiction reading
