University of Illinois Saves Competition
The annual University of Illinois Saves (UISAVES) campus competition promotes a culture of saving throughout the University of Illinois system by encouraging students & employees to set savings goals.
Top Savings Goals for 2016
Over the course of the 7 week competition, which ran from America Saves Week through the first week of National Financial Literacy Month, 608 University of Illinois students & employees set savings goals. University of Illinois at Springfield had the highest percentage of UI Savers with 1.84% of the campus population setting savings goals. Major thanks goes to Credit Union 1, University of Illinois Community Credit Union & PNC for sponsoring both weekly prizes for all campuses and the grand prize drawing, and for the in kind support provided throughout the competition.

Promo Activities During America Saves Week 2016
We had “Paint the Pig (or Shark)” launch parties on each of the three campuses during America Saves Week to promote the UISAVES competition and engage students & staff with the idea of setting savings goals.
Paint The Pig Parties
During the launch parties, we had attendees set savings goals and take photos of those goals with their painted piggy and shark banks as part of the "I'm Saving For" contest. The photos were then posted on the SMMC & Financial Wellness for college students facebook pages. UISAVERS were able to vote for their favorites. The winner on SMMC's facebook page received a $50 Amazon gift card.
"I'm Saving For" Contest
An email was sent by University Human Resources announcing the UISAVES competition on February 22, 2016. Nearly 47,000 University of Illinois employees, including student employees, received the message.
